My research focuses on the fundamental quantum links between light (photons) and free electrons, aiming to facilitate novel quantum technologies. Since beams of electrons enable microscopy and spectroscopy with nanometer resolution (and below), new phenomena emerge from manipulating their quantum state with photons. I plan to utilize electron beams for new quantum-enhanced sensing and control methodologies of quantum nodes and quantum matter, for example, in optically driven ultrafast quantum phase transitions. My current projects address both theoretically and experimentally shot-noise suppression for X-ray imaging, controlling the evolution and collapse of an electron wavefunction, designing silicon-photonics for quantum manipulation of electrons, and THz generation for transport spectroscopy of materials.
