Abstract

Global quantum communication networks can be more easily achieved if there are space-based nodes for transmitting, receiving and forwarding. The Micius program has shown that such space nodes can operate from space. In this talk, I will discuss how constellations of quantum satellites can be built using smaller spacecraft. As an example, I will describe our recent results onboard the SpooQy-1 nano-satellite, and how the environmental challenges can be overcome. In this talk, I will also review some efforts around the world to test quantum technologies in space, and what we can expect in the next 5 years.
